July Flash Challenge
Here's your Flash Fic Challenge!
3D Villains—Oh My! Challenge
(A Characterization and Point-of-View Challenge: Breathing Life Into the Villain)It will be your mission, if you so choose to accept, to have your Flash Fic fulfill the following elements:
- Choose a well-known fairytale and retell it from the point of view of the villain. (May be first person or third person.)
- Craft a 3D villain. Bring the character to life. Characterize, characterize, characterize. Give him/her motivation, make him/her dynamic, realistic, etc., etc. (Too many times, FP's villains are static, one-dimensional, and uninteresting.)
- State which fairytale you chose at the top of your document.
Note: Because it's only 1,000 words, it can be just a scene. Just make sure it's still coherent and cohesive.
Key: Points are awarded for characterization and how effective the POV/narration is in bringing out the character. This is NOT a "twist the fairytale plot" challenge. The story, for the most part, should stay the same. The key is characterization.
That's all. Happy writing! :)
Standard rules apply:
- Your submission must not exceed 1,000 words (not including Author's Note, Disclaimer, Title, etc.),
- It cannot be posted to FictionPress until the deadline has passed, and
- It must be in Mae's inbox, via the submission form by July 21st, 2010 at 11:59PM Pacific Standard Time
